To reduce the burden of disease (death and disability) due to sepsis by:
- Advocating for sepsis to government, policy makers and health services
- Raising awareness in the general community and in health care workers in all sectors
- National coordination and collaboration to supporting quality improvement initiatives
- Partnering with sepsis survivors, families and carers, and those bereaved of sepsis
- Promulgating evidenced based best clinical practice for early recognition, detection, treatment and post sepsis care in accordance with the national Sepsis Clinical Care Standard
- Developing education events and resources and building sepsis research capacity.
To support sepsis survivors, families and carers, and those bereaved of sepsis by:
- Providing information about sepsis and its consequences
- Developing a coordinated model of acute care and post sepsis support in primary health care
- Supporting community led sepsis advocacy, engagement and support groups
